Canada immigration: new occupation list 2014 and new cap
Effective May 1, 2014, the following measures will be in place:
Federal Skilled Workers are chosen as permanent residents based on their ability to prosper in Canada. They are assessed according to a selection grid made up of six factors, including language, education, work experience, etc.
- Overall cap of 25,000 applications in eligible occupations stream
- Cap of 500 applications for PhD eligibility stream
- No limit on applicants who have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
- Sub-caps of 1,000 applications for each of the 50 eligible occupations below (their 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC) code is included in brackets):

applying under new list
At the time of applying under the new occupation list
one must also submit the results of the official language proficiency test
for English and/or French and either
• Have an arranged employment opinion from
HRSDC OR
• Have continuous paid fulltime or equivalent
part time of one year of work experience in the past ten years in one of
the Preferred 29 occupations listed above:
New IELTS Requirements for Applicants in Skilled Workers Class.
Canadian government has decided to reduce the IELTS score requirement for Canadian Immigration Points system. Immigration Canada has now decreased the IELTS band requirement criteria for Canada Skilled worker Immigration points. Minimum IELTS score requirement for 4 points of Immigration has now been reduced.
